    Homemade Mead

      These two sisters have been known to share a libation from time to time, and we enjoy it even more when it is homemade. Dee loaned me a book from her always expanding library called “Wild Fermentation” by Sandor Ellix Katz. The first recipe we have explored is T’ej which is an Ethiopian Mead.  Mead is an alchohol made from honey.   The recipe piqued my husband’s interest because  it required few ingredients, all of which we had on hand  that moment the mood struck him to start the process.     Spring is here (ok, maybe not in Minnesota, where some of us are currently battling a winter storm, but SOMEONE must be experiencing a little spring…) and the warmer weather brings light, levity and….brunches!  And what is our favorite thing to drink at brunch….mimosas!  Well, it is my favorite thing to drink at brunch, anyway.  And what if you are hosting a smaller little soiree and want to fancy things up a bit?  Which orange would be the best option to serve to your guests?  Luckily, I took one for the team, juiced up some oranges and tried it out!  And to keep it scientific, I had my kids join…
